The Wedding dress is probably the biggest decision that you’ll make when planning your wedding. It is not only buying a dress, it is not just any dress, it is THE DRESS. You want to look like a princess and you should be the most beautiful woman on earth in your white gown. Well that’s not as easy to find as I imagined it to be. There was no doubt that I wanted to wear white on my big day – but other than that I was lost. Some girls know exactly what they want because they put so much thought into this even when they aren’t engaged and long before they even have a suitable boyfriend.
When I started to search for THE DRESS I no idea what dress to go for. I had to try every shape there is to eliminate what suits me and what I like and don’t like – Princess Dress, Fit & Flare, Mermaid… What shape to go for? What suits me and body? Do I want a romantic look or more vintage? What colour do I like off white or ivory? Do I want sleeves or sleeveless or a shrug, a belt or do I want a veil, a train? And don’t get me started on materials, lace or glitter or organza or silk? So many questions that I had no clue about. There was only one way to find out. Hit the stores! And in London there are around 50 wedding dress boutiques and most of the famous dress designers have their atelier or flagship store here ( Vera Wang, Pronovias, Suzanne Neville, Jenny Peckham, Vivenne Westwood ) – that’s is very convenient right? But there are also millions of other brands that you should consider. I will show you six brands later that you just have to know if your are after an extravagant and different dress.
So I tried on so many dresses that in the end I could not even remember how the first one I tried looked on me. And the worst thing – You are not allowed to take any photos in most of the wedding boutiques. That’s just stupid in my opinion because you can see a lot more if a dress suits you when you have a picture of you in it. I protested and discussed that topic everytime I entered the boutiques but they did not want to change their policy for me, which made me mad. But anyway lets move on to the dresses and designers that I would like to show you. I know that it can be overwhelming when you go dress shopping and that there is so much to think about. But in the end it should be fun and you can never ever go dress shopping again once you are married so celebrate every single visit and take your girls with you and try as many dresses as you can. It will help you to eliminate what styles you don’t like and eventually you will try on the right shape and dress. You’ll just know when you are in the right one. It is a feeling that I cannot describe. And do not make the mistake that someone talks you into a dress. Don’ be afraid to say No and speak up. You have to love it and if you are uncertain then it is not the right one.
I will show you my selection of designers that I really love and I hope that I can help you find the right white gown for you.
