If your travel plans do not involve flying and you just want to get out of London, see something new – Manchester is an option. Also when you’re on a budget and do not want to lighten your wallet too much – it is really something you should consider. You can get to Manchester by train from London’s Euston Station and can get rates from 40 Pounds back and forth, which is great. The City has a lot to offer and the different quarters remind me of some in London. The taxis and the red phone boxes are also the same here, so you have the feeling your home and not really away. But still you will discover new places – isn’t that cool? The young and upcoming “northern quarter” for example is a bit like Soho or East London. The people are artistic, young and creative. Graffitis and other street arts are displayed and there are lots of nice independent cafés and restaurants around. The northern quarter is also great for pubbing or bar hopping. What I also liked were the old buildings around Cross Street and the Museum of Art. This area reminded me of the City of London. Last but not least: You can shop like hell at Manchester. The Vintage scene is big and you have Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and all the big names you need. This City is perfect for a City Trip and I strongly recommend to go there. I will be back soon – for sure.
